Signe Guttormsen (b. 1964) studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Rijksakademie van beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, Holland. For a span of years, Guttormsen lived in Cologne, where she developed her analytical working method and distinctive mode of expression.
Guttormsen creates works that often stage the absent and at the same time originate from the conditions of a given material or space. She works with media such as painting, photography and an increasing focus on site-specific and building-integrated, spatial works. Such works include Køge Town Hall and the Vejle Psychiatric Hospital.
Today, Signe Guttormsen lives and works in Copenhagen.
